Pelumba Petronas Sprinta Yamaha Maju Motor, Mohd Akid Aziz semakin hampir untuk mempertahankan gelaran juara keseluruhan dalam kategori CP115 menjelang saingan Pusingan 9 Kejuaraan Cub Prix AAM Malaysia Petronas  2017 yang akan berlangsung di Batu kawan, Pulau Pinang, 4 dan 5 November ini.

Juara bertahan itu kini selesa mendahului kedudukan dengan mengumpul 155 mata, 48 mata mengatasi rakan sepasukan, Mohd Haziq Mohd Fairues di kedudukan kedua dengan 107 mata.

Akid hanya perlu menamatkan perlumbaan di tempat ke-14 untuk memungut dua mata dan mengesahkan gelaran juara keseluruhan CP115 untuk tahun kedua berturut-turut manakala Haziq perlu menjuarai perlumbaan memandangkan Ahmad Syukran Aizat (Petronas Sprinta Yamaha-CKJ) yang berada di tangga ketiga tidak berupaya untuk memberikan cabaran lagi apabila 57 mata di belakang Akid dengan hanya baki dua pusingan sahaja lagi.

Namun Akid enggan memandang mudah perlumbaan ini walaupun berada dalam kedudukan terbaik untuk mengekalkan kejuaraan.

“Saya tidak mahu memandang mudah perlumbaan minggu ini. Walaupun kedudukan itu agak selesa, tetapi akan memberi yang terbaik dan mahu menamatkan perlumbaan di atas podium,” ujarnya.

Sementara itu gandingan Mohd Akid dan Mohd Haziq terlebih dahulu berjaya mempertahankan gelaran pasukan terbaik buat Petronas Sprinta Yamaha Maju Motor pada musim lepas sebaik perlumbaan pusingan 8 di Jempol, Negeri Sembilan berakhir.

Pasukan ini turut telah mengesahkan status pasukan terbaik dalam kategori CP150 di Jempol.
